NtCK explained
Hi,
welcome to Not the Creative Kind. Here, on this page I will share my journey to become a creative person. This, of course, is a silly thing to say - because I believe that we are all creative!!! Some of us have just unlearned how.
But my belief for most of my life was that I am not the creative kind and I am the pragmatic and useful person. And even though I now understand this was just a mindset that I had - I have to actively start being more creative in order to become creative because just understanding this will not make me more creative. Only creating will.
What is the idea?
This platform is dedicated to all the women and female identifying people that feel seen by that. People that were put, by circumstances or their surrounding, into this practical box but felt stuck in there. And the blockade of this belief had dragged through their lives and determined so many big things, like lifestyle, career and hobbies. Maybe like me you didn’t dare to dream big, maybe you didn’t want to be in the center of attention, maybe you never have started something by yourself because you believed that you alone are not enough. Maybe you stopped having hobbies because you thought you are not good at them.
But back to this platform. Let’s break out of this practical box. Not that it’s bad to be practical but I think it is limiting to believe that you can only be one thing.
What is the goal:
I think we can be truer to ourselves if we dare to reach outside of boxes and explore a little to see what we actually like and who we actually are. Societal boxes are just so narrow and simple. I don’t believe they have a wide enough range for all of us.
Engage our brain:
Let’s try new things. Not to become successful or great artists. Not even to become really good at one thing. I think it is really valuable to do something that we are not particularly good at. We engage our brains, we keep it on its toes. I have this belief, which is not scientifically proven but it just makes sense to me, that we stay younger for longer if we engage in new things and challenge ourselves consistently.
Gain confidence:
And if you practice things over and over, you gradually become better at them, you strengthen your confidence and you start to trust yourself more in all aspects of your life.
Express ourselves:
Another big issue for me is that I want to be close to my emotions, I want to understand them. A lot of times I cannot express them with just words. If I try, it sounds not quite right. So, I set out to learn how expression through different art form works.
But the big question has to be explored: Can we express ourselves through a language (art form) that we cannot speak?
I am determined to find this out here. With you, the community.
So what will happen on this platform?:
This platform will solely tackle all things creativity. How to implement it into our busy lives, how to become better at ignoring the result and letting go of perfection.
I want to host workshops, live events and online meet-ups where we can explore these topics.
In the next month I will also start a new hobby every month and I am inviting you to join me. We will keep each other motivated, give each other tips and share insides.
My goal is to create hobby groups - so people from this community can start their own hobbies and find partners to do them with.
I am still figuring out how we will communicate, where and when we will meet - but first of all I need your input.
Please tell me in the comments what you think.
Have you ever felt any of that? Being stuck in a box and wanting to branch out?
Maybe you also recently had a mindset shift?
Or maybe you really just want to start new hobbies - if so tell me which ones!
How would you like to communicate with other people?
